The term "soliton" was introduced in a paper by Zabusky and Kruskal published in Physical Review Letters.[1] By solving the Korteweg-de Vries equation (KdV equation) numerically, solitary-wave pulses propagating in nonlinear dispersive media are observed. This worksheet demonstrates soliton interactions using pdsolve.
