This worksheet compares the solutions of a single-degree-of-freedom-system derived by two different techniques:

1. Solve the system in the time domain
2. Convert the ground acceleration into the frequency domain, multiply the result with the transfer function of the system and convert the solution back to the time domain.

The goal is to explain the difference between the resulting solutions. In many cases people mistakenly use the solution in the frequency domain to solve problems with transient excitation with non-periodic excitations.
