Features Added in
Previous Releases of Maple Flow

The Maple Flow 2023.3 update makes effective use of an improved computation engine and adds new features to make it more efficient to create and work with design worksheets.

• Faster evaluation for calculations. With the optimized Maple Flow engine, computations are processed faster, matrix operations are smoother, and parameter updates display more quickly.
• New Arc Drawing Tool. With this addition to the Drawing toolbar, you can add curved lines to your worksheet and adjust line weight and arrowheads to enhance diagrams and schematics.
• Improve your productivity when multi-tasking. The Execution Progress Bar gives a quick way to view the status of long-running calculations from your Windows Taskbar or Mac Dock, helping you to effectively manage your time.
• Additional product help. New content in the help system makes it easier to get started with advanced features, including techniques for statistics and signal processing.
• Usability updates: Various enhancements make Maple Flow easier to use, including:
  • Rearranging your worksheet. You can now move an entire Section by selecting and dragging.
  • Updates to the Color Picker make it easy to select the color you want for text and plots.

The new release also covers various interface enhancements and bug fixes in response to customer requests.

The Maple Flow 2023.2 update offers new formatting and annotation features, and enhancements to make it faster to manage units and perform calculations in your engineering worksheets.

• Enhanced layouts with page settings and annotations. The new Drawing Canvas lets you freely insert lines, shapes, and annotations in your document, while new page setting options enable you to configure margins and page size for individual worksheets.
• New options for handling of units. The Custom Unit feature allows units to be defined for specific projects, and you can now choose IPS (Inch-Pound-Second) as your global system of units.
• Streamlined evaluation of calculations – by default. By popular request, the recently introduced evaluation method that uses = to immediately evaluate a math container is now the default method. Other options remain available.
• Improved response when searching within documents. Maple Flow is now quicker at processing Find requests, and when zooming in and out.
• Usability updates: Various enhancements make Maple Flow easier to use, including:
  • New shortcuts for navigating and selecting. Users can press Shift+Tab to cycle to a previous container, and can triple-click a typeset matrix or piecewise expression to select it all.
  • Quickly apply background color to text containers. You can now change the background color of multiple containers at once.
  • Easily denote text changes. The Strikethrough attribute is available for all fonts.
  • Retain the image aspect ratio when resizing. Adjusting an image using the corner handles keeps the image proportions consistent.

This updates fixes a serious problem that some macOS users were experiencing with doubled characters appearing when using the shift key.

The Maple Flow 2021.2 update offers a richer range of formatting features for creating professional-looking engineering documents.  

• Categorize your content using sections. You can group and collapse areas of the canvas to simplify the look of your work. Sections can be titled, and the boundary of the section can be formatted to reflect the look you want.
• Choose whether to display commands . You can align your formatting to your audience - when preparing for tech reviewers, set the command lines to be visible, and hide them for the finished print-ready document.
• Greater control over when to apply calculation updates. Select how you want calculations to be evaluated when making a series of changes, by enabling or disabling Automatic Evaluation.
• Draw and write text on images. You can customize images (such as title or headers blocks) with project-specific information.
• An improved interface gives you faster response to computational parameter changes and edits you make.

This update contains the following additions and improvements:

• Printing/export to pdf
• Define your page size (e.g. letter, A4 etc.) and margins
• Define headers/footers for the printed page /export PDF
• Display the page extents on the canvas
• Style sets
• Support for text/math styles
• Switch styles with Maple-based style sets
• Separate numeric/symbolic calculation modes
• Additional “symbolic” evaluation mode that suppresses numeric evaluation as much as possible
• Symbolic evaluation mode can be made “sticky” (i.e. all future math containers will be symbolic if sticky symbolic mode is set)
• Japanese language support
• Other interface enhancements and bug fixes
