Opening a CAD File
Open your CAD model to make changes to CAD subsystems that you have already imported. For example, you can add ports, group parts into a sub-assembly, or display a part that was hidden during import.
The changes will be merged into the existing CAD subsystems. That is, the changes will not overwrite properties that you had previously set or delete existing CAD subsystems.
To open your CAD file:
Select the Attached Files tab ( ), and then expand CAD Models.
Right-click on the CAD file you want to open, and then select Open. Alternatively, you can double-click on the CAD file, or select the CAD file and then in the Properties tab ( ) click Open CAD File ( ).
In the Import CAD window, make any desired changes to the parts from the CAD file (for example, you can create groups or add ports).
Click Accept and Return ( ).
After the CAD subsystems have been updated, a confirmation dialog box opens telling you which CAD subsystems were updated.
Click OK to return to MapleSim.
Notes:
When you return to MapleSim, parts will be added to the Hierarchy, but they will not be removed. That is, if you delete a part or hide it in the Import CAD window, the associated CAD subsystem will not be deleted from your Hierarchy. You may want to clean up the Hierarchy and delete older items.
If you have updated the CAD drawing, you should refresh the CAD file in order to merge the updates into your CAD subsystems. See Refreshing a CAD File for details.
