Refreshing a CAD File
CAD subsystems are not automatically updated when the CAD file they were imported from changes. Therefore, if you update your CAD file, you need to refresh the CAD subsystems in order to see the changes in MapleSim.
During refresh, changes from the updated CAD file are merged with the existing CAD subsystems, but any properties that you had set in either the Import CAD or Feature Detect windows are not changed.
To refresh your CAD subsystems:
Select the Attached Files tab ( ), and then expand CAD Models.
Right-click on the CAD file you want to refresh, and then select Refresh. Alternatively, select the CAD file and then in the Properties tab ( ) click Refresh CAD File ( ).
Notes:
The updated CAD file must be saved to the same location (file name and directory) as the CAD file you originally imported. See the notes following this procedure for more information.
If the updated CAD file is not in the original location, you will be asked for the location of the updated file. The updated file must be the same file type, but does not have to have the same file name as the original CAD file.
In the Import CAD window, make any desired changes to the parts from the CAD file (for example, you can set properties for the parts, create groups, or add ports).
Click Accept and Return ( ).
After the CAD subsystems have been refreshed, a confirmation dialog box opens telling you which CAD subsystems were updated.
Click OK to return to MapleSim.
The CAD file location is stored in MapleSim. To find the location, select the Attached Files tab ( ), expand CAD Models, and then select the CAD file. The Path setting in the Properties tab ( ) gives you the location.
You can also refresh CAD subsystems by importing the updated CAD file. The updated CAD file must have the same file name as the CAD file you originally imported. To do this, follow the instructions for loading a CAD drawing.
During refresh, parts will be added to the Hierarchy, but they will not be removed. That is, if you delete a part it in the Import CAD window, refreshing the CAD file will not delete the associated CAD subsystem from your Hierarchy.
