Curve Fitting

One useful application of polynomials is curve fitting. Given a set of data points, a polynomial can be used to model the data. In general, higher degree polynomials will better fit a data set.

Click to plot at least 6 data points, then use the slider to adjust the degree of the polynomial. The polynomial of that degree that best fits the data points will be displayed.
