Harmonograph
Main Concept
A single pendulum by itself moves in a predictable pattern. However when multiple pendulums interact together, interesting, more complicated phenomena occur. Imagine if a pen is attached to the bob of a pendulum swinging in the x-direction, and the paper itself is attached to a different pendulum, swinging in the y-direction. The path the pen records on the paper is a visually appealing pattern known as a harmonograph.
Move the sliders to adjust the x- and y-axis pendulums. Click "Reset" to change all settings to defaults upon the next pause.
