Using the AI Formula Assistant
The AI Formula Assistant is intended as an equation look-up feature. This feature uses Open AI's GPT AI to find answers to your query.
AI Formula Assistant is found on the left side of the Maple window. Click the AI Formula Assistant tab to activate that pane.
When you first open AI Formula Assistant, you are asked to accept the Terms of Use.
Click the AI Terms of Use button
Read and accept the terms and click Apply Globally.
You can return to the terms of use at any time by clicking the Gear icon ( ) at the bottom of the AI Formula Assistant pane. Alternatively, in the Options Dialog, click AI: Terms of Use at the bottom of the General tab.
After the terms of use has been accepted, the AI Formula Assistant is ready to use.
To search for an equation or formula:
(Prerequisite) Agree to the terms of use.
Enter a phrase, question, or series of words separated by commas and then click Search. For example,
Vertex form of a quadratic
Compound interest formula
Cosine rule
Non-ideal diode equation
Volume of a partially filled sphere
What is the best glide angle for a light aircraft?
You can continue to use Maple while your request is being processed, if needed, so you remain productive while the service is finding your answer. As well, response are cached, so if you search for the same phrase again, you will notice the response will be much quicker. See the Notes for more information.
When the response appears, the name of the formula is displayed, and then in the text box is information that includes the equation, any context, and a description of the variables that appear in the equation.
Use the Formulas drop-down list to select from the related formulas returned from the AI search.
If desired, you can insert a formula into a Maple worksheet by first placing your cursor at the desired insertion position, and then clicking Insert formula.
Notes:
This feature relies on sending your query to a third party AI tool, and, as a result, the answers you get may not be accurate or complete. Maplesoft cannot control the quality of the response.
An equation inserted from the AI Formula Assistant may need to be edited to be in proper Maple notation.
At times, you may encounter an error message when you try to insert an equation. In such a case, you may still be able to manually copy and paste from the AI Search Assistant into the worksheet.
You can disable the connection to AI Technology. For details, see Turn off Your Maple Connection to AI Technology.
