Calculating the Center of a Sphere
Identify a sphere in the CAD workspace and find its center and radius. You can then create a coordinate at the center.
To open the Calculations dialog:
Click Calculations ( ) in the toolbar.
The Calculations dialog opens with three tabs, CoG, Distance, and Sphere. For more information on the other tabs, see Calculating the Center of Gravity and Calculating Distances.
To find the center of a sphere:
In the Sphere tab of the Calculations dialog, click on the spherical surface in the CAD workspace. A normal at the clicked location is displayed.
Click on a second location on the sphere. A normal at the clicked location is displayed. If these are verified to be on a spherical surface, a translucent sphere is displayed in the workspace. The center is shown as a black dot.
The center and radius of the sphere is shown in the Calculations dialog.
If you want to update the second point (for instance, if you placed it on the wrong surface), you can update its location by clicking on the surface. If you want to start over, click Reset.
(Optional) If desired, click Create Coordinate at Center.
The coordinate is placed. In the Tree View, coordinates are indicated by this icon:
The orientation of the coordinate is the orientation of the first normal.
