Chapter 7: Additional Applications of Integration
Section 7.1 - Polar Coordinates
Section 7.2 - Integration in Polar Coordinates
Section 7.3 - The Theorems of Pappus
Introduction
The essential message in Chapter 7 is "start to think about the fundamental operations of the calculus implemented in other that Cartesian coordinates." The very first such nonCartesian system is that of polar coordinates, and just the question of integration in these coordinates is examined. Whole new fields of analysis arise when the question of "rate of change" is explored for nonCartesian coordinates.
