Selecting a Layout Type for Connection Lines
By default, as you connect two components that are positioned diagonally from each other in the Model Workspace, MapleSim automatically selects and then allows you to draw either an L-shaped or Z-shaped connection line based on the positions of the component ports. You can optionally specify whether all connection lines that you draw are L-shaped or Z-shaped. In addition, when drawing a individual connection line, you can control the layout type of that line.
To select a layout type
In the Model Workspace Toolbar, click Set grid options . The connection options menu appears:
From the menu, select one of the following options:
Default Connections: MapleSim automatically determines which line shape to use based on the positions of the connectors in the Model Workspace.
L-Shaped Connections: When this option is selected, all connection lines that you draw contain two perpendicular segments.
Z-Shaped Connections: When this option is selected, all connection lines that you draw contain three segments. A perpendicular line segment is placed halfway between the components.
To toggle between drawing an L-shaped and Z-shaped line
While drawing a connection line, hold the Ctrl key (Command key for Macintosh®) to toggle between drawing an L-shaped or Z-shaped line.
This overrides the connector layout type being drawn as you are drawing a connection line. For example, if you are drawing an L-shaped connection line, you can hold the Ctrl or Command key to switch to and draw a Z-shaped connection line type instead.
For details on rerouting connection lines, see Connecting Components in the Model Workspace and Rerouting Connection Lines.
