Adding Ports to a Subsystem
To connect a subsystem to modeling components outside of its boundary, you add subsystem ports. A subsystem port is an extension of a component port in your subsystem.
To add a port to a subsystem
In the model workspace, double-click a subsystem. The detailed view of the subsystem appears.
Click the component port that you want to connect to components outside of the subsystem. (If you hover over the connector, it is highlighted with a green circle.)
Drag your mouse pointer to another location in the workspace. Right-click and select from the options to create a top, right, bottom, or left connector. The subsystem port is added.
Alternatively, click the component port you want to connect to components outside of the subsystem, hover your mouse pointer over the dotted line that surrounds the subsystem view. That line point is highlighted. Click the line once to add the subsystem port. (If there is no dotted line surrounding the subsystem, you can change the view as described in Hiding and Displaying the Subsystem Boundary.)
You can now connect the subsystem to components outside of the subsystem. Browse to the parent node of the subsystem ( ) and connect the subsystem to components in your model at a different hierarchical level.
Tip: To move a port, turn off the Allow Connecting to Ports option ( ) in the Model Workspace Toolbar and drag the port to a new location. After moving the port, toggle the Allow Connecting to Ports option back on to allow connection lines to be drawn between components.
The view of the subsystem at the model level is called the icon view. To adjust that view, including moving the ports, see Customizing Icon View of a Subsystem.
