Importing FMU or Simulink(R) S-Function Results

The MapleSim FMI Connector and the MapleSim Connector allow you to export MapleSim models for simulation in either a third-party FMI-compatible tool or Simulink®, respectively. If the extended visualization data file option was enabled in the exported model, you can import the simulation results from these other tools back into the Simulation Results tab of the Analysis window. From here you can examine the results of the simulation from the other tool and even compare these results to the ones obtained using MapleSim.

To import and visualize simulation results from these other tools you need the following:

•

The support file (.fmu or .simrec file format) that was generated using either the MapleSim FMI Connector or the MapleSim Connector.

•

The extended visualization data file (.bin file format) that is generated when you execute the FMU or S-function.

•

The MapleSim model that was used to generate the FMU or S-function (to compare the imported results or see a 3-D visualization and animation of the model).

To import FMU or Simulink(R) results:

1.

Open the MapleSim model you want to import the results into, and then click Show Simulation Results ( ) in the MapleSim main toolbar.

2.

In the Simulation Results tab, click Import FMU and Simulink(R) S-Function Results ( ) in the Stored Results palette.

3.

If you have more than one model open, select the model that you want to import the results into from the Model list.

4.

Enter a name for the results in the Result Name field.

5.

For the Support File field, click Browse... , and then do the following:

a.

Navigate to the directory where the support file (.fmu or .simrec file format) is located.

b.

Select the support file and then click Open.

1.

For the Data File field, click Browse... , and then do the following:

a.

Navigate to the directory where the extended visualization data file (.bin file format) is located.

b.

Select the data file and then click Open.

1.

Click OK.

The results are imported into your model's stored results with the name you specified. You can show/hide the simulation results, overlay the 3-D visualization, or set a 3-D visualization color as you would with MapleSim simulation results.

For information on how to enable and generate the extended visualization data file for an FMU or an S-function, see the section on Enabling Extended Visualization Data in the MapleSim FMI Connector Getting Started Guide or the MapleSim Connector Getting Started Guide.
