Letter Frequencies in Standard Text
Main Concept
In typical passages of written text, certain letters tend to occur more often than others. It is often possible to use the naturally occurring frequency of each letter to decipher messages that have been coded using a substitution cipher, in which each letter has been replaced by a unique new letter.
