Selecting Colors

From the color palette or color wheel, you can select a color from a collection of pre-defined colors. Using one of the following methods, you can select colors for shapes and lines that you draw, text, connection lines, and 3-D attached shape components. The color palette stores the last five colors that you selected below the color swatches. When selecting colors in the MapleSim Window, you can use the color magnifying glass tool to identify and select any color in the MapleSim window.

Note: You cannot change the colors of modeling components.

To Select a Color From a Collection of Pre-defined Colors

1. 

At the bottom of the color selection dialog box, click the color palette tool ( ). The color palette appears.

    

2. 

In the palette, select a color.

3. 

Click anywhere outside of the dialog box to close it.

To Select a Color From a Color Range

1. 

At the bottom of the color selection dialog box, click the color wheel tool ( ). The color wheel appears.

    

2. 

To display a color range, move the slider beside the color wheel.

3. 

To select a color, click a point in the color wheel.

4. 

Click anywhere outside of the dialog box to close it.

To Select a Color Based on RGB Values

1. 

At the bottom of the Color Selection dialog box, click the color sliders tool ( ). The color sliders appear.

    

2. 

To specify the RGB values of a color, move the sliders or specify a value in the fields using the spinners. For each RGB value, you can select a number from 0-225.

3. 

Click anywhere outside of the dialog box to close it.

To Select a Color in the MapleSim Window

1. 

At the bottom of the color selection dialog box, click the eyedropper tool ( ). A color magnifying glass appears.

    

2. 

In the MapleSim window, hover the color magnifying glass over an area that displays the color you want to select.

3. 

In the circle, click a point that displays the color. To cancel your selection, right-click (Control-click for Mac) the circle.

Note: This tool is not available for selecting colors for 3-D attached shapes or gridlines in simulation graphs.
