Select Entry Mode
This help page describes how to switch between entering text and math in a document block.
In the context bar, the current mode is indicated.
To switch entry mode:
From the context bar, click a button to enter that mode: Text, Nonexecutable math, or Math.
Alternatively, use the F5 shortcut key, which toggles between these three modes in sequence: text entry, nonexecutable math entry, and executable math.
In the context bar, the modes indicator switches to the new mode.
You can also use the Edit menu to switch between entry modes.
To switch entry mode using menus:
From the Edit menu, select Switch to Math Mode or Switch to Text Mode.
Repeat to toggle back to the original mode.
When using the edit menu to switch to math mode, the math is by default nonexecutable.
Note: At a Maple prompt, this menu item allows you to switch between 2-D math and Maple Input (also called 1-D math) modes. In this case, "Text" applies to Maple Input. See also Context Bar for Maple Input.
To switch a math expression from nonexecutable to executable math, or vice versa:
Click the expression.
Use the shortcut key Shift + F5.
