The Queries subpackage is a collection of tools to add and use queries. A query is a procedure called on the selected object, which may be used to determine whether the object should be displayed in a context menu and, if an entry generator is used (see ContextMenu,CurrentContext,EntryGenerators, what entries should be present in an automatically generated submenu.
A query may be boolean-valued, meaning it returns true, false, or FAIL, or it may return information of a different type. A boolean-valued query may be used in the test parameter to the Entries:-Add command to specify that the appearance of the entry in the context menu for a given selected object is dependent on the return value of this query.
You can add to the set of recognized queries using the Queries:-Add command. You can view a list of recognized query names using the Queries:-List command, and you can obtain the procedure associated with a defined query name using the Queries:-Get command. In addition, you can run a query on a specified input using the Queries:-Run command.
Each command in the Queries package can be accessed by using either the long form or the short form of the command name in the command calling sequence.
The long form, Queries:-command, is always available. The short form can be used after loading the package.
