Converting a Subsystem into a Shared Subsystem

If you grouped components into a subsystem and would like to add multiple copies of that subsystem to a model, you can convert it into a shared subsystem. For more information about shared subsystems, see Creating Subsystem Definitions in Chapter 2 of the MapleSim User's Guide.

To convert a subsystem into a shared subsystem:

1.

In the model workspace, right-click (Control-click for Mac) a subsystem and select Convert to Shared Subsystem.

2.

Enter a unique name for the subsystem definition that will be displayed in the Local Components tab ( ) and click OK. The subsystem in the model workspace is converted into a shared subsystem and a subsystem definition is added to the Components palette of the Local Components tab.
Shared subsystems in the model workspace are indicated with the shared icon ( ).  For example, here is a shared subsystem as it appears in the model workspace:

If there is no icon in the corner, you can change the view as described in Hiding and Displaying Subsystem Markers.

You can now add multiple copies of that subsystem to a model and edit all of the copies as a group. For more information about editing shared subsystems and subsystem definitions, see Editing Shared Subsystems in Chapter 2 of the MapleSim User's Guide.
