3-D Navigation Controls.  Select a camera navigation mode for panning, zooming, or moving the camera around your model. For more information about the tools in this menu, see the 3-D Navigation Controls section below.

Fit Scene.  Center your model in the 3-D workspace, or center a selection in the 3-D workspace.

Toggle Grid.  Hide or display gridlines in the 3-D workspace.

Toggle Axis.  Hide or display arrows that indicate the directions of the world axes in the 3-D workspace.

Show/Hide Shapes.  Show or hide attached shapes in the 3-D workspace.

Show/Hide Implicit Geometry.  Show or hide implicit geometry in the 3-D workspace.

3-D View Controls

Clicking on 3-D View Controls ( ) displays the 3-D View Controls in both the 3-D Workspace and the 3-D Playback Window.

Control

Description

Perspective View.  Switch to the perspective view to examine your model from all angles in three-dimensional space.

Front View.  Display your model from a front orthographic view.

Top View.  Display your model from a top orthographic view.

Right View.  Display your model from a right side orthographic view.

3-D Navigation Controls

Clicking on 3-D Navigation Controls ( ) displays the camera navigation controls in both the 3-D Workspace and the 3-D Playback Window.

Control

Description

Select Mode. Switch to the default camera navigation mode. In this mode, like all of the other camera navigation modes, you can use keyboard shortcuts while dragging your mouse pointer to browse your 3-D model.

Rotate.  Switch to the rotate mode. In this mode, you can drag your mouse pointer to move the camera around your 3-D model without using a keyboard shortcut.

Pan.  Switch to the panning mode. In this mode, you can drag your mouse pointer to pan your 3-D model without using a keyboard shortcut.

Zoom.  Switch to the zooming mode. In this mode, you can drag your mouse pointer to zoom into and out from your 3-D model without using a keyboard shortcut.

Note:  When using any of the camera navigation modes, you can also rotate your mouse wheel to zoom into and out from your 3-D model and use keyboard shortcuts to browse your 3-D model. For more information about the keyboard shortcuts, see Panning a 3-D Model, Moving the Camera around a 3-D Model, and Zooming Into and Out From a 3-D Model.

3-D Workspace Controls

The following controls on the 3-D Toolbar are related to building a 3-D model.

Control

Description

Connect Ports.  Switch to connect mode to connect objects in the 3-D workspace. Click this button each time you want to start a new connection line.

Remove Connection.  Removes connection lines from the object selected in the 3-D workspace.

Update 3-D View.  Update the 3-D view of your model without generating simulation data. When the 3-D view of your model is updated, you can animate your model and set initial conditions using manipulators in the 3-D workspace.

Unenforce Constraints.  Specify that kinematic constraints are not enforced for the joint selected in the 3-D workspace. In other words, the initial conditions of that component are not shown in the 3-D workspace as you build your model. This button is available only when a joint component is selected in the 3-D workspace.
