High Fidelity Electrical Drive Modeling with the MapleSim Connector for JMAG®-RT

Motor drive complexity is increasing in tandem with the increasing performance expected of electric vehicles and other electro-mechanical systems. The implementation of  Model Based Design (MBD) very early in the design process has been proven to accelerate the design of complex systems and significantly reduce the cost of prototyping the motor, controller, and power-electronic systems. However, many of our clients now face a new challenge: as powerful as MBD tools like MapleSim are, the system simulation is only as accurate as the lowest fidelity sub-system model. In other words, a simplified motor model, for example, coupled to a complex mechanism can be helpful, but it will not provide an accurate representation of the actual machine behavior. This is particularly true when considering the effect of vibrations induced by variations in the motor windings, or thermal energy transferred form the motor into the rest of the vehicle. This is where the integration of detailed studies performed by JMAG combine with the multi-domain modeling capability of MapleSim can deliver a very powerful solution to a major design challenge.

In this webinar, experts from Maplesoft and JMAG will introduce how both companies are working on various projects to provide high fidelity system simulations that meet the elevated modeling requirements of our clients.
