Description
This is an introductory handbook on applications of symbolic computing using the computer algebra system Maple, for solving problems in applied mathematics and physics. In particular, it is helpful for constructing exact and approximate analytic solutions in standing wave theory. The first five chapters of the book contain an introduction, the basic material, and general description of Maple. Mathematical methods are developed in the rest of the book (chapters 6 and 7), and shows the application of the Maple system for constructing exact and approximate analytical solutions to partial differential equations (linear and nonlinear), that describe the motion of standing waves in strings and fluids. The text is illustrated with problems and solutions from applied mathematics and physics. This handbook is plannned for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, professors, and scientists in mathematics, the physical sciences, and engineering.
