Summary of features introduced in Maple 10

Rich Technical Documents
2-D Math Editing The new Maple 10 equation editor lets you express complicated mathematical problems easily using standard mathematical notation.
Palettes With over a thousand symbols organized in more than 20 palettes, Maple is sure to provide the symbol you need.  These objects can be dragged into your document.
Document Blocks An important decision when creating any technical document, presentation, or application is the amount of technical detail. With Maple 10, your important points are not hidden amongst derivations, commands, and extra white space. You can hide intermediate computations, show results in the middle of a block of text, and not enter or show a single Maple command.
Embedded GUI Components In Maple 10, you can embed GUI components in your document. By using sliders, buttons, and edit boxes, your document becomes both a report and an easy-to-use application.

Easy To Use
Document Mode Maple 10 offers a new Document mode for command-free problem solving. With Document mode, you can create rich interactive technical documents or do scratch-pad calculations. You can state and solve your problems easily, without entering or seeing a single Maple command, so you can concentrate on getting results.
Handwriting Recongnition With over 1000 symbols, it could be a daunting task to find the symbol you want. But with the handwriting recognition built into Maple 10, it's easy!
Unit Manipulation with Context Menus Maple context menus allow you to perform mathematical operations by simply clicking the object and selecting the desired operation from the menu of choices provided. In Maple 10, unit manipulation has been added to these menus.

Rock Solid Numberics With World Class Symbolics
New Statistical Package The new Statistics package contains a collection of functions and interactive tools for mathematical statistics and data analysis. It supports a wide range of common statistical tasks, such as quantitative and graphical data analysis, symbolic manipulation of random variables, simulation, and curve fitting.
State-of-the-Art Differential Equation Solvers Maple 10 uses new sophisticated functions to represent solutions to many formerly unsolvable families of linear and nonlinear differential equations. Original computational algorithms have been developed by the Maplesoft research team–the most important development in ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in the last four Maple releases.
Optimization

The Optimization package has several enhancements.

  • Support for integer linear programming
    • Solve integer, mixed-integer, and zero-one problemsSpecify integer variables easily
    • Options for controlling the solver
  • A choice of methods for solving linear and nonlinear programs
  • Plotting constraints and objective functions using the interactive Optimization assistant
Compiled Function Option You can dramatically accelerate your numeric computation routines using the new Maple compiler. The compiler provides improved performance for procedures that have a long execution time or are called frequently.

Education
Student/Vector Calculus The new Vector Calculus package is part of the collection of packages designed for education.
Maple T.A. Maple 10 allows you to create assignments from a variety of question types using standard mathematical notation. Questions are automatically graded. Because Maple provides the grading engine, mathematically equivalent answers that are not identical to the correct answers are judged to be correct.
Student Tutors The new student package for Vector Calculus includes interactive Maplet tutors.
