This MapleSim model simulates the orbits of various planets in our solar system under the influence of gravitational force from the Sun. The gravitational force varies based the masses and the distance between the sun and each planet and is calculated using a custom component. This force is then applied using the Translational Spring-Damper Actuator (TSDA) component. The numeric result in the simulation is calculated with normalized quantities to handle the astronomical size of the computation involved. The shape of the orbit is influenced in part by the initial condition specified for each of the planet body. These initial conditions correspond to the J2000 Epoch reference datum.
