Kite Model – Multibody, Multi-Domain Physical Model in MapleSim – Maplesoft

Kite Model

This model represents a kite attached to a spinning base with a cable / rope. The model of the rope is based on a particle model which consists of a chain of discrete elements, defined as point-masses and spring-and-damper blocks. This allows the mass and elasticity properties of the cable material to be defined for each rope segment. To maintain the altitude of the kite, a PID controller is used to calculate the necessary lift force.
