Classical Demonstration of the Gyroscopic Effect – Multibody, Multi-Domain Physical Model in MapleSim – Maplesoft

Classical Demonstration of the Gyroscopic Effect

In this example, a rotating bicycle wheel mounted on an axle and suspended from a rope is modeled. Users can vary the initial angular velocity of the bicycle to see the changes to the dynamical behavior as the result of changing the magnitude of the gyroscopic torque. This model correctly shows the axle procession about the supported end.
