Newton's Cradle – Multibody, Multi-Domain Physical Model in MapleSim – Maplesoft

Newton's Cradle

Newton's Cradle is a classic demonstration of conservation of energy and momentum. When an end ball is released from a certain height, its energy and momentum is transmitted through the balls it comes in contact with. The last ball is thus propelled forward at the same velocity as the first ball. The balls appear to be touching but there is actually a small distance between each pair.
