Analysis of slippage in a Roll-to-Roll process – Multibody, Multi-Domain Physical Model in MapleSim – Maplesoft

Analysis of slippage in a Roll-to-Roll process

This model shows a Roll-to-Roll process starting from a braked unwinding drum and ending with a driven rewinding drum. It can be imagined that on the right side of the machine is a processing step, like cutting or converting. This model presents the ability of the "WebHandling" library to model reverse paths. This model demonstrates the consideration of slippage.

All rollers are non-driven. Roller R6 has bearing losses modelled as viscous damping losses. This causes slippage to occur.

The library has different concepts to consider slippage in the roller. The fastest way to check if there are slippage is to check the result variable "summary_Limit" of each roller. In this case the slippage is only detected but not calculated. This means the speed of the web and the roller is equal during the entire simulation.
